The 3 Elements of Criminal Behaviour
As crime trends
change and criminals become smarter, it has become necessary to produce sophisticated devices for the detection of criminals and become more proactive in our approach to security in order to defeat the criminal element.Sometimes criminals will commit a
different type of crime if they are prevented from committing their crime of choice. When faced with a serious deterrent they may
move to a different location where a crime is easier to commit, i.e. crime displacement occurs. Criminals usually seek the path of
least resistance.
Technology should never be used as a substitute for good operational controls and procedures. Electronic security
measures should be used to complement procedures. If everyone adheres to established, easy-to-follow procedures, security becomes
more effective.
Remember that you can never prevent intrusion.
At best you can detect it early. The earlier detection takes place,
the sooner action can be taken and losses prevented.
